About the Conference
We are pleased to announce the international Conference "Turbulence, Current Sheets and Reconnection in Space and Astrophysical Plasmas" organized by the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI) in honor of Lev Zelenyi’s 70th birthday, October 1-3, 2018 in Moscow.
The goal of the Conference is to bring together the theorists, modelers and observers in order to discuss basic aspects of the physics of turbulence, current sheets and reconnection in space and astrophysical plasmas and to summarize new results and novel approaches in a broad range of space physics and astrophysical problems: phenomena in Earth and planetary magnetospheres, Solar and stellar winds, Sun and solar like stars, interstellar media, clusters of galaxies.
Topics of Conference include:
- Magnetohydrodynamic turbulence, origins, spectra, intermittency, coherent structures, acceleration in turbulence
- Kinetic turbulence around proton and electron scales, dissipation mechanisms, role of collisions, role of Landau damping
- Current sheets, formation and instabilities, origination and nature of magnetic islands, acceleration in current sheets
- Reconnection, quasi- steady or impulsive occurrence and rate, role of external turbulence
- Turbulence, current sheets and reconnection effects in the heliosphere and in astrophysics, role of radiation and relativistic properties
- Multiscale complex space plasma flows, fractal and multifractal concepts and analysis techniques, percolation methods and self-organized critically phenomena
